Feedmore WNY - Meal Delivery Project
Allied Mechanical has enjoyed a great partnership with Feedmore WNY for over a decade. It has been our pleasure for 10+ years to keep their headquarters and warehouses well conditioned and comfortable through our regular planned maintenance visits and quick responses to any service issues. Allied began working with Meals on Wheels back in the early 2000s, and was with the group when they merged with The Food Bank of WNY in 2019 to become Feedmore WNY.

Organizations like Feedmore rely heavily on community support to complete their mission. Throughout the years, Allied has made a conscious effort to support Feedmore WNY through monetary support of their various campaigns: from our yearly sponsorship of the Meals on Wheels “Plate Expectations” event, up to and including the “Walk Off Hunger” event through Feedmore.
With the pandemic of 2020, Allied realized the need to support Feedmore and organizations like it was stronger than ever. We came up with a strategic plan to implement more community service as a part of our Core Value, Make A Friend. One of our obvious choices of benefactor of this plan was Feedmore WNY.
Through mutual teamwork between the two companies, we were able to coordinate a Meal Delivery Day! With 12 Allied employee volunteers working with 4 different Feedmore delivery sites throughout Western New York, we were able to deliver over 100 meals to people in need! While this may sound impressive, it’s nothing compared to the daily work that Feedmore does to feed families in need.
Our crew of volunteers had a blast running these delivery routes. Not only was it a great experience to bond within our group, but we had a great time communicating with the meal recipients. What makes Feedmore meal delivery different is that you are encouraged to make contact with the people on your route; check in, make sure they’re all right, and talk to them.
What is a typical meals on wheels meal? Feedmore offers a hot and cold plate, and some recipients have frozen food to keep them through the weekend. Feedmore will modify meals for special diets as well. They load you up with a hot box and a cooler for delivery to ensure that the food stays at peak temperature. On our day of delivery the hot plate had turkey with gravy and vegetables, and the cold tray had a sandwich with milk and a fruit. The food smelled and looked great!
